.treading water.

Here it is the final Go-Venture day. Prompt: treading water. Which was what I was doing coming up with ideas for this one. When I really sat and thought about it treading water made me think of swimming tests at camp and how we always had to tread water in order to get a "I can swim in the deep water" wrist band. I love camp. I love summer. I love lakes. That was my inspiration and this is where it took me.

Stop by Kal and Elises sites to see what they created.

And thank them for a fun round of Go-ventures!

.song and dance.

Today's Go-venture is song & dance. When I first saw the prompt I thought, oh crap, what can I possibly do that would be as lovely as singing and as graceful as a dance? However the more I thought about it, the more I realized my life is a song & dance. I am always on the go, always singing in some weird key, and always doing my lifes dance. Right now my life is spinning, dancing, singing and revolving around one beautiful little girl. Right now SHE IS my song & dance. So little Liddy - I created a collage for you. This is our little song & dance. I love you more then any word could say, then any picture could show. I love you with my whole heart. I am excited to watch you grow and play, to sing and dance without holding back. This is our song & dance.
Go & Enjoy this day full of song & dance!

.pockets.

Today's Go-Venturing Prompt: Pockets. Oh pockets I love you - oh yes I do! I had an idea of what to do before I even finished the word, pocket.
About a month ago I was on a walk and on my walk I met an interesting lady. She talked to me about how nice the weather was and I agreed, it was a beautiful day. She then told me she only wore her jacket because it had pockets and her pants did not, and she needed a place for her key. She declared that she hated those purple pants and declared that all cloths should have pockets. I agree, yes suri.
That lady was my inspiration for the day. I drew a picture of her (and her walker) and the path we were on. I drew it on cheap paper taped together. Yuck. Blah. Never again. Then I drew what she wished what she hoped and possibly what she dreamed of, herself as a little girl in a dress with pockets. I then wrote all around the picture and added some color with equally cheap water colors. Which kinda ruined it, because the paper was so thin it riped - However, I gave it a try and now I know why I hardly paint, no never paint. And I also know why I should draw on better paper. Although I wreaked it, I had fun and it will always remind me of that sweet old lady. :)

Once again a thank you to Kal and Elise for letting us play your game. You brought it. And were giving it our all.

She had no pockets.
None.
The lady wanted pockets.
And so she dreamed.
Pockets.
Days full of pockets.
All things with pockets.
Little dresses with pockets.
Purple pants with pockets.
All things with pockets.
She wanted pretty purple pockets.
Someday she will have.
Pants.
Dresses.
All things.
With lovely Perfect Purple Pockets.

Just for fun here is my husbands idea of pockets: hot, tasty, yummy pockets.

.not my type.

Today's Go-venture is: not my type. I had a lot of fun with this one.

The first image that popped into my head was this.... because big guys with guns and mullets are not my type. I then thought of big hair and how that was not my type. Like these men - just want to know what they were thinking. HA!

And then Richard Simmons - although I love you man, you are not my type.

No, not my type at all. On a serious note I thought of an old typewriter and wanted to incorporate that in my piece somehow. I first riped and cut out "NOT MY TYPE" letters from a magazine and taped them to cardboard. Then I uploaded my image to photo bucket and got to work. With photo bucket and the help of old fashion paint I got the image below. Which ironically is so my type. Thank you Kal and Elise for letting the rest of us play your creative game.

And here is my husbands take, plane and simple - not his type:

.green + dizzy.

A couple days ago I was reading my favorite blog, [i] love life, by artist Kal Barteski. Her and this other girl Elise decided to have an artist duel, a match, a challenge, a thrill. They are going to be designing and making artsy stuff all week long challenging each other (and the rest of us) to be creative. They have called it Go-Venture and the first clue was: green + dizzy. I have decided to do my take and see if I can keep up with the big girls -you know the professional artists. Ha - which has me laughing right about now because although I am creative, I am no artist - at all. But what the heck it will be fun and I am always up for fun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green + Dizzy
When I first thought of green + dizzy I wanted to sew a pinwheel on a quilt - a little applique. I knew though that time would be an issue and that I would not be able to get that done. Then I started thinking I would take pictures of myself spinning around in the grass, because lets face it green + dizzy makes you automatically think of a little girl spinning in circles till she gets sick - however when I went to snap some shots the clouds took over and my shadow went missing. So, instead I just grabbed a spinning picture I took while in Liberia and used photo bucket and paint (I know I am real classy) to change it to green and spin some stuff around.

So Kal & Elise here is my take:

.baby blanket.

Two days ago I decided to make a baby blanket for craft hope. I am really excited about it and yesterday I got started. Since I really had no idea what I was going to do - I copied the craft hope design and decided to applique it to the quilt. I used a bunch of old jeans that I had been saving for a jean quilt - along with some old scraps. It looks really good so far, and I just need to do the back and edging to be finished. Here are some pictures of the quilt in progress.

.green bag lady.

Another winning bag. I have had this bag for about a week now, and have just gotten around to post pictures of it. I love it - this is a no thrills bag, just plane & simple & easy to cart around. This came from the green bag lady who has vowed to give a bag to anyone who promises to use it instead of plastic. She uses donated materials and converts them into beautiful bags for shopping of all kinds. If you have any unwanted fabric consider a donation to her. A really cool part about her bags is the fact that she puts a number on each one - she has made over 5,600 bags so far. These bags are in all 50 states and in a number of different countries. My bag is number 5176 - Thank you Teresa!

.craft hope.

A little while ago, like two weeks, I saw this website: craft hope ... and thought maybe someday I can participate. The last project they did was they made dolls to distribute in Nicaragua. By the time I found the site there was only about one week left to make and send a doll. Since I am not one to make a doll in the first place I figured I would just wait until the next project showed up.
Well, now is my chance to participate. They just posted their newest project - which is making a baby blanket! How fun and easy is that, I am really excited to participate and would ask that anyone reading this would consider joining me as well. The blankets are going to be going all the way to India! How awesome it will be to know that something I make will be blessing a baby all the way around the World. I am really excited and cannot wait to start the project & send off my love to help babies in need.

.fat quarter.

So, I have been having a really rough day. I am in the process of sleep training Lydia - and today was a not so fun one. She is usually pretty good at going to sleep but her stress level has been high due to major diaper rash, gas bubbles, and teething pain. This little one is taking a lot in and in returen she freaks out at me. And I am not too great in the soothing department these days, because I feel the crying is constant. I honestly thought the parenting gig would be a lot easier then it has been. I suppose I just need to take it one day at a time... sometimes one minute at a time. And I need to lean on God more, and trust that everything will be alright. I love you little girl, even on these days.

On the brighter side of life - I received a fat quarter in the mail today. This came as part of the Sew Into Summer Fat Quarter Swap hosted by Two Hippos. I was extremely excited that something pretty came in the mail! It's so nice to open up a package of craft. This fat quarter came from craftytammie and I absolutely adore it. Thank you soooo much Tammie! This has definitely brightened up my day, now I just need to think of what to do with it.... oh the possibilities.

.simply stylish - kimberly bag winner.

Another wonderful item I won was this Kimberly Bag from Simply Stylish. First let me say it is gorgeous - it is so bright and colorful and the perfect purse for the Spring/Summer. The additional flower adds a little extra spark which I like, but can also be removed. Also this bag is deceptively big. It doesn't look like it could hold much at first glance, but you can really pack a lot in there. With three pockets you can separate the important items from the rest of the bag. Additionally, Kristie from Simply Stylish does a wonderful job sewing. The bag is durable and I am sure will last me a long time. If you like this bag (which you should) and would like one of your own you can go to Simply Stylish Etsy shop. Or if you would like to check out some of her other creations you can go to her blog. Thank you again Kristie!!!

.elle belle tag blanket.

This tag blanket was the first item that I won! It also came in the mail first, and although I have only had it a short while it has been wonderful. Lydia loves it and has since the moment it came. She loves shoving it in her mouth and looking at it. She also loves the crinkle corner and that is usually the side she decides to drool over first. As much as I could write about it, my words will not do the blanket justice ...so here are a couple pictures to show you our love for this wonderful Tag Blankie.
To view more products by Elle Belle check out her Etsy shop or go to her blog.
Thank you Elle Belle!!!

.jackpot.

Oh man did I hit the jackpot or what! In Sew Mama Sew's give away I only hoped to get lucky and win one item. I never dreamed of winning four... that's right 4! I am super excited to see my earnings as they come in, and will post reviews and photos too! I received two today and am just downright happy that I got some mail with really cute craftiness inside :) Right now I plan to post pictures Monday because my camera battery had an unfortunate taste of death and needs reviving.
